Aero India inauguration: 

Defence minister M. Parrikar on Tuesday inaugurated the 11th edition of Aero India 2017 show in Bengaluru. The five day event had much to offer for visitors on the inaugural day.

HAL’s indigenous aircrafts put out spectacular displays encouraging people to put their faith into Indian-made defence products. HAL’ s LUH made its debut at the Aero India 2017. While a prototype worked its magic on the first day of the event, work in models are under production.

Aircrafts including LUH, ALH mark I and II, LCH and Tejas enthralled the audience. Fighters like Sukhoi 30 MKI, France’s Rafale, Sweden’s Gripene and USA’s F-16 left the crowd spellbound with their manuvoers.

Then came the artists in mid-air from Scandinavia, the wing-walker team, Skycats. The inaugural session was concluded after the Indian air display team Sarang flew in formations. Pilatus PC 7, a basic trainer aircraft, HTT 40, Hawk and Falcon also put up a display.

Suryakiran made a comeback after four years at the Aero India show and made every second of their air display count. More air display session continued through the day as business was underway at the exhibition halls. About 549 companies are participating in the 11th edition of the Aero India show.

53 aircrafts are engaged in air display this year. “Number of participants is only growing and we have increased the space by 10 percent. Despite that we are fall in short of space,” Manohar Parrikar said in an attempt to highlight the increased participation in Aero Show by Indian and foreign firms. In a first, a Chinese delegation is also participating at the Aero India. Pakistan may not be able to acquire Russian weapons

The Ministry of Defence as well as civil aviation hope to draw more investment, business innovation and production in aeronautical sector. While the push for Make In India was evident, the defence minister acknowledged the role of foreign players as stakeholders in enhancing the sector.
